Tussar silk, in lengths you can actually use
Tussar is a wild silk with a natural gold tint, a slightly coarse texture and more body than mulberry silk. It photographs beautifully, it suits Indian daylight, and it is expensive by the metre — which is why a short cut is the sensible way to buy it for one garment.
The three tussars we stock
- Soft tussar — chemically softened for better drape. The easiest to stitch and the most versatile.
- Fuji tussar — smoother, blended, with a subtle sheen. Good for structured blouses and jackets.
- Mulberry tussar — finer and shinier, closer to classic silk.
Best for
Day weddings, temple wear and anything worn with a handloom saree. A tussar blouse against a cotton or linen saree is one of the safest combinations in Indian dressing.

Care
Dry clean only. Tussar water-spots easily, so never spot-clean with water. Iron on low from the reverse.
