Printed Fabric Cut Pieces
Printed designer fabric, by the piece
Block prints, florals, geometrics and digital prints on cotton, chinon, organza, crepe and silk — all end-of-roll cuts, measured to the centimetre, from ₹55.
The one thing to check with a print
Direction and repeat. Many prints only look right one way up — flowers growing upward, paisleys pointing one way, a bordered layout. Your tailor cannot flip a panel to save cloth, so add about 10% for a directional print, and 20 cm if a large motif has to sit centred on a blouse front. This is where most short-fabric disasters come from.
How much do you need?
Saree blouse 0.8–1.0 m · short kurti 1.5 m · knee-length kurti 1.6–2.0 m · women's long kurta 2.25–2.5 m · kids frock (2–4 yrs) 1.0–1.5 m. All at 44 inches.
Care
Pre-wash printed cotton and linen before cutting — they shrink 3–5%. Printed silk, chinon and organza should be dry cleaned. Wash prints separately the first time.
Every piece is an end-of-roll cut from RIDH — The Fabric Studio, Egmore, Chennai, priced at 50% of RIDH's shelf rate. One of each; once sold, gone.
